You MUST be an enrolled student in a university or college /recent graduate (less than 1year) from the East Africa Community (EAC)
Project MUST be based on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Individuals can apply and if in a group, one of the founding members of the project can apply for the Prize money.
Project team should have gender balance (have both male and female in the team)
Academia-industry partnership – team up with industry or academia to provide with real-life challenges/solutions
Projects that have won awards or recognition in other Innovation Challenges at the time of submission are not eligible
Products/services that benefit women
Diverse skills of team members( from different fields)
Create a realistic business model that proves solution has market potential
Integrate technology – social media, ICT, engineering
Promote green economy
Innovative Projects/Research will be judged based on:
Authenticity of the idea
Sustainability of the project/innovation / research model
Start of project Submission - 1st May, 2016
End of project submission - 31st July, 2016
Notification of selected projects -30th September, 2016
LoS Awards ceremony - November, 2016
N.B: Teams will run blogs about issues in the four categories three months to the awards.
