As the saying goes "once an accident, twice a coincidence, thrice a habit", Lions of Science (LoS) did it for the 3rd time. On 5th of November 2015, LoS held their 3rd Annual Awards ceremony at the Goethe Institute Nairobi. The event was very well attended, with participants of the challenge eager to defend their innovations before the jury and audience.
The ceremony ran for three-and-a-half hours and it was vibrant, very inspiring and entertaining with overwhelming feedback from the guests, jury and students and audience.

The event was also graced by guest from Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Dr Salome Guchu who was our guest honor, Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology School of Pure and Applied Sciences, Kenyatta University, Dr. Susan Musembi, Programs Director Network of African Science Academies (NASAC), Jackie Olang’ and Belinda Ilagosa, Kenya Intellectual Property Institute (KIPI).
The LoS jury of the challenge comprised representatives of the sponsor and partner organizations; Martin Falk, German Embassy; Andreas Kaiser, German Business Association; Katrin Seidel, Regional Director - Heinrich Boell Foundation; Volker Schmidt, Merck-Living Innovation; Nyagaki Gichia, iHuB; Katharina Felgenhauer, BASF; Kani Tuyala, LoS Director.
The LoS Awards Challenge finalists were each allocated 10 minutes to present of their projects before the audience and jury and after each presentation, there was a question and answer session for both the jury and audience to raise their concerns on the feasibility and workability of the projects.the MC of the day Macharia Maina , ensured that time was strictly kept.
This led to the final stage of the ceremony where the jury was given time to deliberate on the presentation and and proclaim the winner and for the first time, LoS had two teams tying for the first position and one team as the 2st Runners-up.
